Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Nye has served as Chairman of the Board since 2014, as President of Martin Marietta since 2006 and as Chief Executive Officer and a Director since 2010. Mr. Nye previously served as Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2009. Prior to joining Martin Marietta in 2006, Mr. Nye spent nearly 13 years with Hanson PLC in a series of increasingly responsible positions, including as Executive Vice President of its North American aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete, hot-mixed asphalt and paving businesses.
Since 2018, Mr. Nye has been a member of the Board of Directors of General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD), a global aerospace and defense company.
In addition to his educational, professional, executive and related roles, Mr. Nye is a past Chairman of the Board and current member of the Executive Committee and Nominating & Leadership Development Committee of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) as well as a former gubernatorial appointee to the North Carolina Mining Commission. He presently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the American Road Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and as a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business organization. Mr. Nye has also served on numerous other state, local and/or philanthropic organizations including the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the North Carolina Business Council of Management and Development, Inc., the Duke University Alumni Board, the Wake Forest University Law School Alumni Board, and as Vice Chairman of UNC Rex Healthcare’s Board of Trustees.
Mr. Nye received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a law degree from Wake Forest University.
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Roselyn R. Bar is Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Martin Marietta Materials. She is also Corporate Secretary.
Ms. Bar joined the Company in 1994 as assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. Before joining Martin Marietta Materials, she was corporate counsel at Sun America Inc. Prior to working for Sun America, she was a corporate lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom in New York and Los Angeles.
Ms. Bar holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and a law degree from the Brooklyn Law School where she was Managing Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. Ms. Bar served as the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee (formerly Council of Counsel) and as a member of the Legal Task Force of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA). She is a member of the New York, California, Florida, and American Bar Associations.
Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer
Robert J. (Bob) Cardin is Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Martin Marietta.
Before joining Martin Marietta, Bob held finance, tax and accounting leadership roles for more than 18 years. He most recently served as Chief Accounting Officer at SWM International since 2013, and served as Interim CFO for SWM International from April 2015 until October 2015. Previously, he served as Corporate Controller for Syncreon International Group, Assistant Corporate Controller and Group Controller with Dentsply International, and Division Controller and Vice President of Finance/Accounting with Collins & Aikman Automotive Products.
Bob is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at the University of Michigan and his Master of Business Administration degree in Accounting at Wayne State University.
Senior Vice President, Strategy and Development
Daniel L. Grant is Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development for Martin Marietta Materials Inc.
Before joining the Company in 2013, Mr. Grant served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development for Lehigh Hanson in Irving, Texas for the past 17 years. His extensive prior experience includes work in the investment banking and commercial banking industries. Mr. Grant began his career in the construction materials industry as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Owl Rock Products Company in Arcadia, California.
A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, Mr. Grant earned his MBA in Corporate Finance at the University of Southern California.
Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resource Officer
Craig M. LaTorre is Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resource Officer of Martin Marietta.
Before joining Martin Marietta, Craig held senior human resources management roles for more than 25 years, most recently serving as chief human resources officer with Tesoro Corporation. Previously, he held senior human resource leadership positions with ConocoPhillips, Honeywell International, First USA Bank, IBM and the Pepsi Cola Company.
Craig received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan and his Master of Arts degree in Labor and Industrial Relations at the University of Illinois.
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer
John P. Mohr is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Martin Marietta. He is responsible for all aspects of information technology and service, including software, infrastructure, security and planning. John joined Martin Marietta in 2015 and has considerable prior industry experience. From 1993 to 2001, he progressed through various positions of increasing responsibility to become Director of IT Development for Hanson Building Materials.
John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with a concentration in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. He is a member of the Triangle Technology Executive Council, the Society for Information Management and is active in the North Carolina Technology Association.
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
James (Jim) A. J. Nickolas is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Martin Marietta.
Before joining Martin Marietta, Jim held finance, accounting, tax and M&A leadership roles for more than fifteen years. He most recently led the Corporate Development group at Caterpillar Inc., and previously served as Group Chief Financial Officer of the Resources Industries segment and the Global Mining division of Caterpillar. Previously, as Group Chief Financial Officer of Caterpillar's Resources Industries segment, which had group revenues of $6 billion focused on the manufacture and sale of mining equipment, Jim was responsible for financial planning and reporting, internal controls, compliance and M&A activity. Prior to that, he served as Group Chief Financial Officer of Caterpillar's Global Mining business unit, where he also managed the internal audit and treasury functions. Before joining Caterpillar in 2008, Jim was Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., where he worked on originating and executing debt and equity capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. Jim began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand where he was a senior tax associate.
Jim holds a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and both an MBA in Finance and a JD degree from the University of Chicago.
